Barbara Balls - Thrilled beyond words

I made an appointment at the Cataract & Lasik Center of Utah in Orem with many misgivings and nervousness. When I went there I was welcomed and greeted with a smiling face and happy voice. I immediately became relaxed and comfortable. The women doing the interview listened to my concerns about problems I was having with my eyes (cataracts and very poor vision). They then explained what they could do for me, and what I could expect from the surgery. I would be receiving multifocal lenses (ReSTOR), which have the ability to help me see far as well as near, how surgery would be done and how long it would take, and if there would be any pain involved. They explained that they have had great success with this procedure, and that the staff was very professional and the surgery could be done at the center if my insurance approved it.

All my worries were put at ease and I told them, "Let's proceed as fast as we can so I don't have time to think or worry about it." This was done in only a day's time. The first surgery was to be Dec. 11th; it went very smooth. The nurses made me feel very special. I was relaxed and then all of a sudden it was over with. I could see great with one eye within a couple of hours. The 2nd eye was scheduled for the following week. The surgery went the same way. The staff was as before, just wonderful to me. They handled me like a precious piece of glass. After both surgeries Dr. Monroe would call me the night after surgery to see how I was, if I had any pain or concerns, and if I could see well. The follow up visits are exciting as I see that my eyes are improving. I have worn glasses for 73 years.

Now I don't wear glasses to read, watch TV, or to drive. I am thrilled beyond words. The chains have been lifted from my eyes. I will always be grateful to the Cataract & Lasik Center staff, technology, and research that has made this possible for me.

I very much appreciated the caring, yet professional work of Dr. Jamie Monroe and the staff at the Cataract & Lasik Center of Utah. I even enjoyed the visits for surgery and check-ups, which is a lot to say from one who has had a negative reaction toward doctors, hospitals, and clinics; in so much as to avoid them as often as I could during my seventy some odd years.
The surgery work seems to be very successful. I had the more expensive, but much more comprehensive lens (soft ReSTOR) so I wouldn’t have to wear glasses of any kind. Since I have never worn glasses, and thus not used to them, it seemed to me like it would be well worth it, and so far it has been well worth it. I don’t need glasses to read, or see things clearly at a distance.

As I recall I learned my lessons well at my mother’s knee of always remember to say, “thank you” when someone has been kind or done you a generous favor. I think I made my mother proud by remembering my manners when last we parted.
But now, somehow, it doesn’t seem quite enough; I am grateful beyond expression.
I would hesitate to refer to you as a “miracle worker” but such seems to be the case in my recent weeks as I am overwhelmed by the results of your skills in improving my eyesight by what seems thousands of degrees. Let’s just say I consider you a genius.
I told my wife some days ago that people of my generation were not accustomed to medical miracles; rather we ate our brussel sprouts when ordered by our mother, and hoped to just live longer than our parents, hopefully without complaint
I also want to express my appreciation to your associates and staff; in my previous life I had a number of opportunities to associate with the highest degree of professionalism, an attribute I have long held in high esteem. In every instance my visits to your clinic were always met by an exceptional group of people who were not only interested in providing the medical service I required but exhibited a personal interest in my comfort and wellbeing. I am very grateful for their interest, thoughtfulness and constant solicitude.
Finally the photograph you took of the two of us following the operation remains the proud possession of a special little girl in my life. She is constantly showing friends and relatives the picture of me and my “friend”, the doctor. Thank you again, friend.

M. Johnson - So Thankful

I am so thankful for the expertise and professionalism of Dr. Jamie Monroe, Dr. Beatty, and all of the technicians and staff at the Cataract and LASIK Center of Utah.  My life has really been changed for the better.

I was worried about my vision and decided to see an ophthalmologist to check my prescription and was referred to Dr. Monroe by my mother, who previously had successful cataract surgery. Dr. Monroe did a careful examination of my eyes, and imagine my surprise when she told me that the reason I couldn’t see with my glasses was that I had large cataracts in both eyes –at the age of 58!  Dr. Monroe thoroughly educated me regarding my options for surgery and patiently explained all the different lens implants, answered all of my questions and gave me time to consider which lens I wanted.

I ultimately decided to go with a multifocal lens implant. For most people, this eliminates the need for all types of glasses. I could only imagine what a relief that would be after the bother and expense of wearing glasses for over 20 years!

I have never experienced such a painless, “simple” outpatient procedure. I had absolutely no pain, no bleeding and no scars from the procedure. Dr. Monroe put me totally at ease before and after the surgery. I was completely confident in her expertise and professionalism, as well as her kind and caring manner.

I had fabulous results! The day of the surgery I could see better than before. I have never worn my glasses since that day.  The day after surgery, I drove to work in Salt Lake. I can now read telephone books, prescription bottles, clothing tags, newspaper print, computer screens, street signs, house numbers, and I can drive safely at night. I can see the details of the beautiful landscapes around me without glasses! This is a tremendous blessing in my life. At my last appointment Dr. Beatty found that I had 20/20 vision.

The reason I am writing this testimonial is to reassure others considering the procedure that is safe, painless and effective. Dr. Monroe is professional as well as caring and compassionate. I feel confident in the skill and training of Dr. Beatty and all of the technicians and staff as well. I am thrilled with the results! Thank you Dr. Monroe, Dr. Beatty and all the staff at the Cataract and LASIK Center of Utah.

Lastly, I intended to donate my old glasses, but I honestly have no idea where they are. Another pair of expensive glasses lost… only this time, I don’t even care!

I appreciate genuine customer service- especially since in my work place I try to provide such to every client. My experience with cataract surgery with CLC of Utah was beyond pleasant. Seeing so clearly is really fantastic and the experience with the doctors and staff to arrive at this new vision was equally pleasing. With each contact with a CLC member I felt like the only individual in their care. My older sisters are almost envious of my “perfect” vision. When and if they need cataract surgery, I hope they find as caring and competent doctors and staff as I have experienced with you. Thanks again!

Upon my first visit to the Cataract and Lasik Center of Utah, I was so impressed by the loving, kindness, and loving care each worker showed each patient. On each of my visits thereafter this did not change. Any apprehension on my past about the surgery was soon put to rest. Dr. Jamie Monroe completed surgery with absolutely no discomfort on my part. After the right eye patch came off in three hours I could read anything without my glasses and a magnifying glass! I have received the best gift- I can see! It is fantastic!! Get it done!!

I had cataract surgery a period of time ago and I was really apprehensive about it. I was having a hard time seeing in my left eye and I put in a special lens. The surgery was unbelievably successful. I can read the smallest lines. I have 20/20! I do not have to have all those reading glasses I have scattered around the house. The treatment I received here was fantastic. I give Dr. Monroe the highest praises and Dr. Beaty and the whole staff here did a great job of taking care of me as well as their other patients. Anyway, I give it an A+ experience and I would recommend it to anybody. It made a huge difference in my quality of life and my ability to read, do things, and enjoy life.
